HOMEBUYERS CLUB

(Serving DC, MD, VA)

The Homebuyers Club offers a 7 week course focused on educating “First Time Home Buyers."  While educating the participants through the Marshall Heights Community Development Organization Homebuyers Club on the process of purchasing a home, the participants are also instructed on "How to open a Savings Account" and become a Learned Saver.  Experts in each particular field are invited to speak on subjects discussed in the course curriculum.

Homebuyers Club Course Curriculum:

- You & Your Credit

- Financial Management

- The Process of Home Ownership

- Shopping for a Home

- Shopping for a Loan

- Home Appraisal and Inspection

- What Happens at Settlement

- Post Purchase 

- How to avoid Foreclosure

Participants will have a one-on-one credit counseling session with a Certified Housing Counselor.  This will help you understand the loan amount that you can afford and will address any credit issues that you may have.
