As a non-profit organization whose mission is to contribute to the economic well-being of the community, MHCDO has been actively involved in several real estate development projects including the building of several homes on Minnesota Ave., NE, managing a commercial property, negotiating mixed-use developments, and the development of the Skyland Town Center.

Development Projects

SKYLAND Town Center

Skyland Town Center, the first town center development in Southeast DC, is an 18-acre mixed-use development that will deliver 275,000 square-feet of retail and more than 400 residential units at completion.


Mixed-Use, multi Family Located on a 2.47-acre site, the proposed development anchors Benning Road to the east; Hanna Place to the south; and G Street to the north. The proposed development proposes a 150,000 square feet, multi-family, and commercial retail apartment building at Benning Road.


15-acres of District-owned land that the development team will transform into a mixed-use development comprising of Retail, Assisted Living/Senior units, Townhomes, and Multi-family rentals


Located at 3819 Jay Street, NE, Mayfair Mansion Apartment III is a 160-unit affordable rental complex built in the Mayfair neighborhood. The garden-style apartments were built between 1942 and 1946 and were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The complex was rehabilitated in 2009.
